Why Are Fat People Strong? Learn the Truth
Why are fat people strong? This question has been asked countless of times. So, I will be discussing the answer to this question in detail. However, before that, let’s discuss first some background information about fats in the body, and what their functions are.
Functions of Fats
1. Provide insulation to your body.
2. Act as bio-membrane of body organs.
3. Provide energy for the body, in the absence of carbohydrate.
4. Basic nucleus of steroid hormones.
5. Participate in biochemical reactions.
Take note however that bad fats (Low Density Lipoprotein) are dangerous to the body, especially in elevated amounts in the blood. They increase your risk of cardiovascular diseases.
What are the Characteristics of a Fat Person?
1. A fat person is heavier than a person of the same age and weight
A person is fat when his weight is not congruent with his height, and sometimes his age. You can determine if you are fat or not by using the Body Mass Index (BMI) calculator (read more).
2. A person is fat when he appears fat, as well
Obviously, he has extra weight on his body. Sometimes, muscles can be mistaken as fats. You can find out by pressing the area. If it bounces back, it’s probably fat. But if it feels firm, it’s most probably a muscle.
3. There’s a difference between simply being fat and being obese
When a person is obese, he may not be able to perform physical activities because of his excessive weight. He may not be able to stand or sit too. Thus, with excessive weight, the person becomes debilitated. Nevertheless, if a person is overweight (fat) but not obese, he can take advantage of his body mass to become stronger.
Why are Fat People Strong?
Indeed, why are fat people strong? Here are the reasons why.
1. Because They have more Body Mass
I’ll give you an example. Imagine a fat person falling on top of you, and a smaller person doing the same. Most likely, you would suffer more injury from the fat person than from the thinner person. It may not because their muscles are stronger but because they have more body mass.
A punch from an arm with more mass would be stronger than an arm with lesser mass. Thus the mass adds strength to the punch. It means that the heavier a person is, the more pressure is exerted by his body. Just as a heavier object renders more damage to a car than a lighter one, a heavier body because of fat could do likewise.
2. A Fat Person who Exercises Produces more Power
Fat people are strong, more so if the he exercises. That would be a combination of muscle power and body mass. Look at sumo wrestlers, their bodies are a combination of muscle and fat, and observe how much strength they possess.
3. A Fat Person has to Become Stronger to Cope with His Increased Body Weight
Since the body has to cope with the increased weight, it becomes stronger and sturdier. The body has a self-coping mechanism that allows it to achieve homeostasis (state of balance).
These are the reasons why fat persons are stronger. So, next time you meet a fat person, don’t think that he’s weak. He could land a devastating punch, if you challenge him to a fight. Incidentally, this is the reason why there are weight divisions in boxing. The bigger boxers have undue advantage over the smaller boxers.

Tips in Preventing Obesity
Being fat can lead to being obese; hence, you have to prevent this from happening. The following are tips on how to do it. It’s because when you become obese, the opposite will result, you will become weaker, because you won’t be able to control your body or balance it. You can turn into a punching bag.
- Exercise even if you’re having difficulties. Through this way, you can stop your fatness to proceed further.
- Eat more of fruits and vegetables than carbohydrates and sweets.
- Hydrate yourself properly. Drink more than 8 glasses per day.
- Avoid meat fat and dairy products. They will add fat to your body.
I have answered the question: Why are fat people strong? In summary, fat people are strong because their increased weight or greater body mass provides them stronger pressure; much more when they exercise simultaneously. Also, the coping mechanism of the body will provide more strength to the body.
